A first look at the upcoming Union LA x Nike Field General has surfaced, revealing a design that bears little resemblance to the 1982 football cleat that inspired it. Leaked photos from @kicksdong show a revamped design with a lifestyle-ready aesthetic, reminiscent of a vintage turf trainer that’s both minimalist and richly detailed.
The only unchanged elements from the original Field General — initially designed for NFL quarterbacks like Archie Manning and Dan Fouts — are the exposed mesh toeboxes, quarter panels, tongues, and the slim heel collar. Beyond that, the new design is a creative reinterpretation, akin to an abstract painter reimagining a classic portrait. The upper features an earthy brown and tan color scheme accented with pink, layered paneling, heel tabs, an external heel counter, Union LA tags, co-branded midsoles, and a unique top eyelet secured by a textile strip extending from the heel. The outsole sports a waffle-style traction pattern reminiscent of '80s turf shoes, though it's a significant departure from the original's spikes.
As of now, the official release date has not been announced. However, this colorway of the Union LA x Nike Field General is expected to launch 6/27, peak the video https://store.unionlosangeles.com/pages/union-u
