Vault by Vans in-house designer Taka Hayashi has revealed two new releases with the famed skate brand, following up two “DIY”-themed releases from last year. The latest collaboration sees Hayashi dip into the Vans archive to give two silhouettes — the OG Style 24 LX and OG Style 47 LX — a Formula One racing-inspired rework.
For the Style 24, Hayashi has dressed the sneaker’s high-top construction in a full canvas upper which is offset with contrast piping and lace guard. The two colorways of the shoe — one in black and white and another in white and off-white — both incorporate Hayashi’s take on racing iconography, including an all-new checkerboard flag and logo-heavy team jackets.
The second silhouette in the pack, the Style 47, references the racing influence through its quilted construction designed in homage to racing suits of the 1970s. This inspiration continues to the contrasting heel stripes, while printed midsoles feature Vans’ classic checkerboard pattern as a nod to racing flags. The Style 47 comes in two colorways: “Baja Blue” with white heel stripes and “Raven” with gold stripes.
The Taka Hayashi x Vault by Vans Style 24 will release on February 26, while the Style 47 will hit the Vans web store and select retailers on March 1.
