Nike‘s Air More Uptempo has returned in its acclaimed “Olympic” colorway. Originally created for Scottie Pippen‘s stint with the USA Basketball team during the ‘96 Olympic Games, this patriotic makeup was worn by both Pippen and Charles Barkley during the USA squad’s march to a second straight gold medal. Since then it’s re-released in 2012 and 2016, and it’s now set to celebrate the Games again with a third retro.

Built from a navy blue nubuck, this Uptempo’s signature detail is provided by its bold white leather “AIR” overlays on the lateral and medial side, both of which drop their crisp shades down onto the midsole for extra contrast. More white leather is present on the toe cap and tongue, both of which also boast Swoosh graphics — blue on the former, red on the latter.

Special details are ramped up even further on the heel thanks to a blue jewel swoosh and a gold-trimmed #8 for a nod to Pippen’s Olympic jersey number. The full-foot Air Max cushioning system takes on a podium-worthy gold medal hue, and the white/navy outsole equips final red Swooshes to round off the look.

The Nike Air More Uptempo “Olympic” has been popping up (and quickly selling out) at select retailers over the past week, and is priced at at $160 USD. It’s expected to hit the Nike webstore before the 2020 Tokyo Olympics, which are currently still on as scheduled but could very well be canceled due to the continued spread of the novel coronavirus. If you’re not in the mood to wait for an official drop, pairs are available at Stadium Goods now, with prices ranging from $320-$469 USD.

JD Sports is known for its “Only at JD” exclusives, especially when it comes to limited-edition colorways and releases such as this Nike Air Max 95 in grey and blue.

This ’90s Nike classic has been treated to an all-grey makeover, with premium suede and durable mesh forming the upper. The color palette offers up various shades of grey, moving from dark to light as the suede works its way up the shoe’s wavy design.

Mesh appears towards the upper parts of the shoe such as the eyestay, while shiny grey foam and textiles have been used for the tongue. Contrasting this tonal colorway is the shoe’s use of blue, which can be found on the two-toned Airmax logo on the tongue as well as on the lateral rear-quarter, which sports a black and blue swoosh emblem alongside more split Airmax branding.

Further hits of blue are used to highlight the grey sole unit’s Air bubbles, as well as the outsoles major Air component. A final touch of 3M appears on the tongue. Take a look at the JD-exclusive Nike Air Max 95 in grey and blue in the gallery above, and pick up a pair on JD Sports’ Australian website for $250 AUD (approx. $148 USD).

Polo Ralph Lauren has released a new fragrance called “Deep Blue”, offering up a spring-ready scent with its notes of Hawaiian green mango, deep ocean accord and cypress oil.

Initially, the fragrance delivers its citrus and mango top notes alongside a Polo-exclusive CristalFizz ingredient that boosts the freshness. Mid-notes are aromatic and deeper thanks to the use of cypress and clary sage, while salty minerals round out the scent thanks to its deep ocean base that is supported by musk, patchouli, fir balsam and more.

Blended by master perfumer Carlos Benaim, Deep Blue comes together to capture the power and essence of a wave. This same notion is noted in the bottle’s design, which features a blue gradient on the glass with silver details and hardware.

Polo “Deep Blue” Eau de Parfum is priced at $85 USD for 75ml and $105 USD for 125ml. Take a look at the bottle above, and pick up the new fragrance via the Ralph Lauren website and select retailers worldwide.

Setting out to raise awareness for autism, Vans has now launched a sensory inclusive collection where part of the proceeds will be donated to charity.

Aptly named the Autism Awareness Collection, the new drops span across several different silhouettes including a blue suede checkered ComfyCush Old Skool and two colorways of a plush checkerboard ComfyCush Slip-On PT, all available in adult sizing. The remaining three models — which include two ComfyCush Slip-On PT variations with a “LOVE” print and a holographic water pattern, as well as a ComfyCush New Skool V colorway, will be launched exclusively in kids and toddler sizes.

;

“Since 1966, Vans has stood as a champion of individuality and self-expression,” says Vans. “With this project, Vans celebrates the unique aspects of all people. Designed specifically with Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD) in mind, the ultra-comfortable footwear collection is offered with sensory-inclusive elements including a calming color palette and design features that focus on the senses of touch, sign and sound.”

As for the donation, We (Vans) has pledged a minimum of $100,000 USD from the proceeds of the collection to A.skate, an organization that helps children with autism to connect with the social world through skateboarding. Aside from holding clinics for children on the spectrum completely for free to families, A.skate also provides grants to them for skateboarding gear, as well as promote awareness while educating families about how beneficial and therapeutic skateboarding can be.

According to Vans, the donation can support the education of 4,000 children with autism on how to skateboard.

The Vans Autism Awareness Collection will be available later this month over at Vans retailers or on the company’s online store.

The new design comes following on from the “History of Punk” Sk8-Hi collaboration last month and takes inspiration from the same subcultural moment.

Whereas the last release looked to The Ramone's influence on New York, the exclusive Old Skool is inspired by the Sex Pistols and their emergence in London. The sneaker features a tartan sidewall, contrasted by pony-hair leopard on the toe box and heel tab, referencing the band’s anti-establishment and DIY ethos.

Elsewhere, the sneaker also features a fluoro pink patent leather panel, celebrating the cover art of the band’s only studio album, Never Mind the Bollocks, Here are the Sex Pistols. Finishing the design is the date “11.06.1977” on the midsole, honoring the date that the iconic single “God Save the Queen” reached number 2 in the UK charts.

The Vans Old Skool “English Invasion” is set to release exclusively via the size? app and select stores on March 14. Head over to the size? web store for more information.

Functional gear brands like The North Face, Nike and Patagonia have already put measures in place to upcycle and repair vintage and damaged goods in the name of sustainability, but that hasn’t stopped enterprising young labels from upcycling unwearable goods on their own terms. Since Fall/Winter 2012, Japan’s OLD PARK has recycled undesirable goods into covetable new creations, and for Spring/Summer 2020, the label is reissuing its popular flight jackets crafted from damaged layering pieces.

Sourcing unwanted retro items from the aforementioned companies yields a host of torn, punctured, stained and well-used goods, meaning that OLD PARK has ample motive to slice the garments into minute pieces, puzzling them back together to create a familiar MA-1 flight jacket shape, complete with sleeve pocket. GORE-TEX embroidery, logos, d-rings and pockets — some still functional — dot the body of the jackets, ensuring that each completed creation is entirely unique, united by color scheme, textiles, zippered closure and ribbed hems. A slew of matching helmet bags accompany OLD PARK’s jacket rollout, along with an assortment of mashed-up shirt/sportswear sweater hybrids.

Japanese stockists like BEANS 1989 and CIRCUS offer the unique goods at prices beginning at ¥52,800 JPY (approximately $500 USD), though the one-of-one clothes are selling out quick.

adidas Originals has released its LXCON in a stripped-back “Signal Green” colorway. An updated take on adidas‘s classic LXCON 94, the LXCON’s modern-day style has now been pushed in an alternate direction thanks to a new upper build.

“Signal Green” is an obvious moniker for this design, as the aforementioned mesh upper is dressed in a vibrant green hue that can be spotted from a distance, and a wide-knit mesh construction gives off an undeniably sporty air. A delicately stitched fabric Three Stripes graphic on the midfoot and a snaking plastic tube that runs from midfoot to heel before crescendoing above the rear add technical, conceptual style.

These vivid tones and textures are offset by elegant tan shades on the thin suede tongue and adiPRENE midsole, the former of which presents black “The Brand with the Three Stripes” text graphics. Grey heel clips enhance support, and a black rubber outsole finalizes the look.

The adidas LXCON “Signal Green” is priced at $120 USD, and is available at the adidas webstore now.
