Yohji Yamamoto and adidas have come together once again for a triple black rendition of the Y-3 Raito Racer. In true Y-3 style, the Raito Racer adopts a technical profile and is yet another super-minimalist offering from the collaborative powerhouse.
The soon-dropping “Black-Y3/Black-Y3/Ftwr White” version features a black Primeknit upper speckled with white threads and a stretchy white and black collar. It sits atop a black BOOST sole unit taken from adidas’ I-5923 silhouette, which is paired with a Quickstrike outsole for added traction and durability.
“Raito” in Japanese means “Light,” and so the focus of the Raito Runner is to keep everything as light as possible. Its Quickstrike outsole is molded right onto the BOOST midsole, reducing unnecessary weight, while an all-new lightweight lacing system has been implemented for an updated look which offers increased structure and support.
Rounding off the Y-3 Raito Racer’s look is a pair of suede overlays towards the toe box and an embroidered Y-3 logo on the tongue. The sneaker will release on July 15 for £279 GBP (approx. $348 USD) at retailers such as Sneakersnstuff.
