Built to mimic what a sport utility vehicle will resemble in 2025, Mercedes-Benz presents the Ener-G-Force Concept model. Expected to debut at the Los Angeles auto show, this futuristic G Class could be the shape of Mercedes SUVs for years to come. Mercedes notes that while the roads of 2025 will be much more crowded with electronically monitored and guided traffic, people will still want to travel outside the city and they’re going to want environmentally-conscious G-Wagens to get them there. As a result, the Energ-G-Force is as much about powertrains as svelte body panels. The concept itself surrounds the idea that an SUV like this would have a hydrogen fuel cell powering it with a secondary plug-in charging port. At over a foot wider than the current Gelandewagen, this model also features a roof rack and rally lights molded into its body, a rear hatch akin to a Nissan Xterra with attached tool kit and headlights forming the letter “G.” The Ener-G-Force Concept can be seen at the Los Angeles Car Show from November 30 to December 9.
